Staff Training

“Training is usually looked upon as a nuisance rather than a contribution to the bottom line of the organization.”(Brown 570) This is thought process is usually related to the amount of money put into trainings and the lack of outcome. This lack of outcome could potentially be because of the training not being planed around what the organization needs, which in turn creates a not so beneficial processes. Before you plan a training for your employees you must fulfill a needs assessment to see what the training should involve and go over to help the organization and employees to benefit from the training.

This is done through the strategic model of training:

  1. Needs Assessment: What needs to be focused on in training? What skills and Knowledge are needed for the job?

  2. Design: What is the objective of the training? How to motivate employees? What are the goals of the organization?

  3. Implementation: How are you going to train employees?

  4. Evaluation: Did the training work did employees enjoy, and learn from the training?

This strategic model of training, not only allows trainers and employers to find out what must be discussed but it also informs them on how to best train employees and get the best outcome from the training. It further helps with creating the lesson or training plan.
