Customer Service - Retail
Types of Disabilities and how to serve the customers

By: Jenna Byrne
Many retail companies are commonly known for their sayings that they meet the needs of the people. The people are what makes a business run and provides the business, this means for ANY type of person that walks into the store. As seen in the diagrams made above, these are the types of disabilities that customer service employees would be trained on for service and accommodations.
Feedback is available to customers who have a disability to provide feedback or any questions or concerns that the customer has about their accessibility in the store. The above disabilities listed should be well known by the staff at the end of the training. Its understandable that the customer service employees will still have questions or need assistance themselves on helping customers with disabilities, however one thing that should be remembered is no matter the disability or customer... all should be treated with respect. People with any kind of disability have the same rights as those who do not to be able to access the store.
